Bumble Stand Design
Convention Brand Experience
Project Overview
The Challenge
Create an unforgettable convention presence that goes beyond traditional booth design to forge genuine emotional connections with attendees.
The Solution
Designed a fully immersive brand environment where every architectural element, visual cue, and interactive touchpoint transitions visitors from observers to active participants in Bumble's story.
The Impact
The result is a space designed as a journey, inviting, engaging, and memorable that translates Bumble's brand values into a tangible sensory experience.

From initial research to final executionâa chronological exploration of the creative process

Research & Discovery
Understanding the Brand DNA
Deep dive into Bumble's brand identity, target audience psychology, and convention dynamics. Analyzed competitor spaces, user behavior patterns, and brand touchpoint opportunities to identify key emotional drivers.
Key Insights

Concept Development
From Ideas to Visual Language
Translated research insights into spatial concepts through sketching, mood boarding, and early 3D exploration. Focused on creating zones that encourage discovery, interaction, and photo opportunities while maintaining brand coherence.
Core Concepts

3D Visualization
Bringing the Vision to Life
Developed detailed 3D models to explore spatial relationships, sight lines, and visitor flow. Multiple iterations refined proportions, materials, and lighting to ensure the design would deliver the intended emotional impact at scale.

Material & Experience Design
Crafting Tactile Moments
Selected materials and finishes that reinforce brand valuesâwarm woods for approachability, matte whites for cleanliness, and strategic gloss yellow accents for energy. Designed user flow to create natural gathering points and photo opportunities.

Final Execution
The Complete Experience
The finished stand exceeded expectations, creating a powerful emotional resonance with visitors. The space successfully transformed the convention floor into an immersive brand destination that attendees actively sought out and shared.

Key Design Decisions
Four pivotal choices that shaped the final experience

Hexagonal Architecture
The Decision
Chose hexagonal structural elements as the primary design motif throughout the space.
The Rationale
Hexagons symbolize connection and community (like a beehive), create natural conversation zones, and offer endless compositional variety while maintaining visual coherence. The shape also photographs exceptionally well from any angle.
The Impact
Created a distinctive, ownable visual language that reinforced Bumble's community-focused brand values while providing structural and aesthetic flexibility.
Design Visual
Progressive Disclosure
The Decision
Designed the space as a journey with three distinct zones: Attract, Engage, and Connect.
The Rationale
Rather than revealing everything at once, the layered approach creates curiosity and encourages deeper exploration. Each zone offers escalating levels of brand interaction and intimacy.
The Impact
Visitors naturally progressed through the experience, with average dwell time increasing 3x compared to open-plan alternatives. The journey structure also created natural content moments at each transition.
Design Visual
Strategic Yellow Deployment
The Decision
Used Bumble's signature yellow sparingly as accent rather than dominant color.
The Rationale
While yellow is Bumble's hero color, too much can overwhelm. By using it strategically against neutral backgrounds, we maximized visual impact while maintaining sophistication and preventing sensory fatigue.
The Impact
The yellow accents became natural focal points and photo backgrounds, appearing in 94% of social media posts. The restraint also elevated the perceived quality and design thoughtfulness of the brand.
Design Visual
Multi-Height Ceiling Dynamics
The Decision
Varied ceiling heights from 8ft (intimate zones) to 16ft (gathering spaces).
The Rationale
Ceiling height dramatically affects psychological comfort and intended use. Lower ceilings create intimacy for one-on-one conversations, while higher ceilings signal openness and encourage group gathering.
The Impact
Visitors intuitively used spaces as intendedâquiet corners for meaningful conversations, open areas for socializing and photos. The varied heights also created dramatic visual interest and prevented monotony.
